I have read so many posts (others sites as well) concerning the issue of AC/Heat blower either working intermittently or not at all, on Dodge vehicles of just about all year models. WHY hasn't Dodge corrected this problem?!
In March of 2017, I had the resistor changed out (now I know how to do it myself) and the thing seems to have gone out again this week. I would like to see a discussion on what causes this resistor to overheat and how to guard against this issue.
My 2008 Ram 2500
My point is that this is evidently an on-going issue for Dodge (Many owners from years back to current have the same issue) and they have not fixed it. This is my 2nd one to go out just since March of this year. I would like to see knowledgeable discussion on what causes this.
The resistors gets hot, which is really their job..... If you have a questionable ground, or a motor with bearings that are getting tight (ready to fail....) that puts a higher load on the circuit. Higher load equals More heat equals faster burnout. Also, I think it is supposed to be at least partially cooled by airflow thru the heater box, so, some obstruction that prevents the resistor block from getting adequate airflow will also hasten its demise.
