Default HoAt Vs oat coolant

2006 4.7. I'm replacing my thermostat and I bought the oat coolant which is purple, I didn't know Chrysler changed coolant. Anyway mine was orange. Is this purple coolant safe for my engine?

nope, you need hoat coolant not oat. if the 2 are mixed they will gell. you would have to drain and then flush the system 2x with water to fully get the old coolant out. the new coolant is longer life but is also more compatible with the new materials in the new engines. just stick with the hoat coolant your vehicle was designed for.

I bought oat on accident, I have 2 gallons, if it's save to run with flushing I would rather do that then waste it

You can't return it, and get the right coolant?

^ This.

To the OP: You made a mistake. We all do that. The problem is you're subscribing to the Sunk Cost Fallacy. Find someone who can use the OAT coolant or else dispose of it, but don't get dead set on using it in your present vehicle. The cost of this lesson learned is cheaper than the alternative.

I gotta agree with Gary here. No matter how thorough you flush it, you aren't going to get all the old coolant out......
