I recently bought a used Ram and just like any used car/truck it has some issues.
I need your help to get through some of these.
The Truck...
2005 Ram 1500 SLT Daytona
Regular Cab with Short Box 120.5" WB
5.7L Hemi Magnum
5-speed Auto w/ 4wd
The issues...
1. The Climate Control Switches have no backlighting - I read up on this and actually got the 3 bulbs to replace just don't have any clue on how to change them. Does anyone have a procedure?
2. Steering Wheel Cruise Control buttons have no backlighting - I read up on this as well, pretty sure that they don't light up. just need confirmation.
3. The Mirror Controls have no back lighting - No clue if they do or don't. or a procedure to fix.
4. 4wd indicator in the dash doesn't light up, even when I do a "Vegas" test - Possibly the sensor on the transfer case????
5. CD player sounds like there is one jammed in there when I start the truck. -
I'm sure there are more "little things" that I need to address. but let's start with these...

Welcome to the forum.
1) You pop off the center panel that covers the radio and climate controls. There are a few small bulbs that twist into the climate control switch panel from behind. These are only available at the dealer. That's the only place I could find them for my 08. They are a couple of bucks a piece.
2) The CC switches do not light up.
3}These do not light up either, only the window buttons.
4)Could be the bulb there as well. Does it light up ever, like when turning the key on and starting the truck?
5)Does it have a single disc, or 6 disc radio. It should have a 3 letter code on the radio.

 

My (non-Hemi) '05 has CD issues with discs getting stuck. Not all, but some. Try slapping the dash hard with your hand while pressing the Eject button. It should pop out eventually.

I don't understand why some switches and controls are lit up and others are not. But oh well. I found a Youtube video on how to remove the center panel. It looks like 1 screw on right and two above the cup holder and it pops right out. I'l try it tonight. As far as the 4wd light, I don't think it is the bulb in the dash. I read on another thread that the sensor on the transfer case is a common problem and a good cleaning or replacement is the solution. I don't think there is a CD in there it just makes an awful noise when you start it up like the mechanism to pull the CD in and out is jammed up. I don't know, maybe I'll try putting one in and see if the noise gets better.
