I need some Ideas for a new hood
Well a rock fell off a dump truck as i was passing it, it put a nice dent and scratch in my hood. I went to three body shops and its gong to cost about $750 to get it fixed. I would rather get a after market hood, painted for a little bit more. Anyone have any good ideas. Also weather is a issue b/c I leave in upstate New York and it rains and snows sometimes when I am out. I dont drive this truck much in the winter (e.g. 300 miles in 4 winter months) Anyone have any good suggestions?
the srt-10 hood is not a functional ram air hood it is basically made for looks thats about it. When you order the hood from dodge you can get 2 differant filler pieces for the scoop, one that is open that just allows more air to blow into you engine compartment, or a solid piece that is made to look like a screen.

How about a cowl hood? Basically the same as stock...with a 3 inch cowl.

I always wanted to put a functioning Hemidart style scoop on my little Dakota. Something like this:

I already have an open aircleaner under the hood, wouldn't take much to put a taller element on it, then a larger bottom pan with some foam seal on the underside of the hood around the hole. Anyway, I always thought that'd be niftee because it would be functional and have a bit of nostalgia to it.
BTW, rain is not an issue, it ends up just looking like really humid air to the engine, it isn't like a fire hose wil be spraying in there, most of it ends up dead airspace when the throttle isn't open.

If you want to wait you can wait for this. Go to Good Hoods and Dodge Trucks. They have a shaker hood coming soon.
