Question How to ID rear

Looks like 03 1500 4x4 crew cabs use 9.25 12 bolt rears with 31 splines.
The front axle has a legible tag and reads 3:92
this should be all I need to get price and availability for remanufactered diff.

Anyone see me needing any other info?

Unhappy This job is getting worse

No used rear availability..... guess this is common issue with these vehicles to have rear axle troubles.

Found a reman for about $1,800.00 plus tax and shipping. Holy Cow! Anyone have advice or better ideas?

Tear it down, and see if it is repairable. Gotta be cheaper than the new one, plus shipping.......

Hey You,
That’s not a bad idea, been a long time since I set pinion depth and shimmed carrier bearings. Prolly the way to go finance wise as long as the case isn’t too boogered up.

Appriciate the help!

An option may be to just remove the axle from the truck and take it over to a driveline shop. Have them swap the parts in their shop. A mid point cost control which also avoids botching the job by having the pros take care of the shimming and backlash etc.
