Over whelmed with trying to select shocks
Im trying to decide on new shocks for my 05 1500 reg cab short box 5.7, all stock.
So many brands and models its making my head spin. I do no off-roading, tow only 2 snowmobiles once a year, basically just a daily driver in wisconsin. Ive read to buy the cheapest mono tube design, ive read billstein are the best but very expensive, i see mixed reviews on the ranchos. Im looking for a decent riding shock (not soft but not gonna rattle my teeth out) with a budget around $45 or less per shock if possible. Is my budget not fair? Thoughts?

Rancho RS5000 (not the X) on your 1500. Practical price, fit for all purpose for what you describe as your use. Glorious ride comfort and control. If you are patient, watch for the sales/rebates for buy 3 get 4.
OR
Bilstien 4600. Also fair practical price. Never on sale.
I'll be open stating I have a personal hate on for Monroe. Out of 5 sets tried on 3 different trucks, not one set was likeable. (reflex, magnum, sensatrac). They are cheap, yet do little for the ride. Waste so much money on them it is maddening. Put Monroe on the Prius. Put Rancho on your truck.
More shock info, based on experience, to consider here at post #8

Hope that helps!
