Dropped a valve spring keeper into the head
I'm changing valve springs on a 04 ram 1500, 5.7 hemi.
while installing to new spring on #7 cylinder intake valve a dropped one of the keepers. And before you ask, no I didn't stuff rags in the wholes next to the springs.
here's my question, will pulling the intake manifold get me to the lifters, that's where I think I will find the keeper, or am I going to have to pull the head?

Oh lord, what were you thinking...yes you will have to pull the head to get to the lifters (which like HeyYou said requires pulling the intake anyway). Then you will need a new head gasket and head bolts (bolts are stretched as they are torque to yield). I know it'll be a bitch with a magnet, but have you tried fishing around to see if it grabs it?
Before you pull the the head try to fish the keeper out with a small magnet.
Could save you a ton of work and a lot of grief.
As you learned, a rag (or paper towel) stuffed in the holes is a good idea.

I have tried a magnet, but the one I have is a little to big, I'm going to stop and pick one up on my way home, and an inspe inspection camera to look down inside. Where this is at i can't get back there to see down in the hole.
