The shifter on the floor from 2wd to 4wd, etc. is floating. I am in 2wd and can drive however I want to fix this - I had this 'supposedly fixed' while on a vacation where I had to leave my car (fuel pump) to get back home however it appears the problem is back again -

How can this be fixed?

Also, could this be caused by suspension issues?
