Had my truck attempted to be stolen in 2005 and they did not get it thanks to this little pain in the *** you just experienced. Caused me to get a good alarm and surveillance cameras but everything is still working great on my 04. I guess the thieves had gotten into my truck and took the little rubber cover off at the ignition and somehow were able to get a duplicate key but they only got it to the end of my driveway. After a lot of questions I found that what I thought was a factory alarm was not and the keys had to be mated to the ignition. I am an old timer an this was like Star Trek crap to me. Cooooooool. Glad you got her fixed. My truck has been so good that now I have been able to save enough to buy one outright if I ever live long enough to wear this one out.

 

So sadly it was a misdiagnosis. Mechanic said the computer is bad. It is shutting off the fuel injectors and fuel pump right after starting up. A used computer was found in S. Carolina and will be installed and reprogrammed Monday.
