Default Help Wanted

hello I need some help with my truck. I have a dodge ram 1500, and the engine light beside the battery clock is coming on... as I didn't get a manual when I bought my vehicle and I've only had it a few days, I don't know how serious this is?? Also if anyone knows of any sites I can find this stuff out that'd be great? 1 last question, does anyone know where I can get my truck serviced near Leeds in the UK. Thank you, please help! Princess Dodge x

You need to get your computer scanned. Most mechanics can do this.

I think you mean battery guage, not clock. The engine light is on the left of it. In the US, a clock tells time, nothing more.

Anyway,

You will need to have somone with an OBDII reader plug into your truck to see what the codes are that are setting off the light.

I have no idea where you can do that in the UK.

You might check out your gas filler cap to make sure its on tight. That sets off many engine lights.

You can do the key trick and get the OBD codes. Then look them up.

Hi Dodge Princess.

Try Rodley Motors at Dudley Hill Bradford BD4 9PD Tel #01274 688968.

I don't know if they specifically service Dodges, but they do a lot of American stuff there and I know, they can get bits for your truck.
I've just bought a 2003 QC 4X4 Hemi and am enjoying it tremendously.
Make another post to let me know how Rodley do, as I'd also be interested.
The key trick is another way to go to read your error codes and the explanation can be read up on www.hemitruckclub.com under your truck year service manuals posted on their home page. Sorry about mentioning another Dodge web site guys [sm=imsorry.gif]
Hope this helps, Allan.

No problem Princess.
It's a long time since I visited Rodley, back in the day they were real friendly and very helpful.
I have no ties to them, apart from the experience of them supplying parts for an old Mustang I used to run a few years back.]
Never had a problem with availability or prices.
As you say, please e-mail me with your experience and if they're still OK, I'll probably use them for my 03 QC Hemi.
Regards and warm seasonal greetings.
Al.
