Default Weight limits.

I haven't as yet got a service/owners manual for my 03 QC Hemi short bed.
Can anyone help me with how much weight I can safely put in the short box bed please?
I have a few jobs to do this weekend in shifting some building bricks.
If I evenly distribute the weight over the entire truck bed, what can I load up as a safe maximum?
Cheers for the help.
Al.

If you aren't driving very far, I'd suggest put as much as you need as long as it isn't scraping the ground. Seriously though, I'll take a look and see what I can find.

Payload shows max of 1690 pounds for a 2006 QC Hemi SB on the dodge website. I'm guessing yours will be very similar if not the same.

It is a half-ton truck, so the 1690 is about right. Realistically what can you put in it? Probably about 2500 lbs. Don't go fast, and no sharp turns, but there is no reason why you couldn't do it.

I went to the quarry with a freind of mine in his F-250 (3/4 ton truck). We put ~4000 lbs of rock in the bed, and it didn't even put the bed on the helper-springs. So it goes to show you, what the company rates it at, and what it's realistic capacaty are two completely different things.

Another funny story. I was on vacation and eating breakfast outside of the resteraunt while these guys across the street were building a new hotel. They loaded two F-150s with at least 4000 lbs of bricks. These poor trucks were screaming from the load. But they drove away fine.

I agree you can go a little over the 1/2 ton mark. I had over 1500 pounds in mine once, no issues. I once had a 03 Ranger and a ton of dirt in it.
