Im looking for someone who might have run into a similar situation. I have. 2002 ram 1500 and a 2002 Durango. Same engine. Rebuilt the Durango and was blowing engine fuses, saw a thread saying set back cam one tooth so in desperation tried it...and it worked.

three months later my ram gave up a chain tensioner at 250k. No damage so I replaced chains, timed it and at idle it’s horrible but at 2000 rpm it’s perfect. I am guessing once again 12 o’clock needs to be 1158 o’clock....but why?

dodge gives enough timing marks and it isn’t my first rodeo (or second or third) so is there something I am missing? Is it wear? Computer craziness after new chains and it’s just “different”? They are 17 years old but I don’t see how physical timing can just be “off” like this.

I fail to understand how a mechanical relationship between a selection of shafts, can blow fuses..... That makes zero sense to me. But, if it works......... Just chalk it up to "one of those things"......
