Default 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 5.7l Hemi (Codes updated in post) (Driver Side Coils Not Working)

Hey there everyone,

As the title states, i have a friend who has a 2005 dodge ram 2500 5.7l hemi and the coils on the driver side don't have power at all. The plugs on the passenger side have no spark, he has changed the cam and crank sensors..the truck starts but idles and misses like crazy due to those 4 coils not getting any power. Would it be the pcm causing the issue, he went to the local pick and pull and got 2 used pcm's but he is unsure if it needs to be reprogrammed or anything he plugged the used pcm started for a second and shut off. any help is greatly apperiated. Thank you everyone....

My friend has bought the used pcm, what all is needed to flash it with the current info of the truck such as vin number and mileage and updated flash files like you would get from techauthority. J2534 cable such as obd 2 to usb and load the files from techauthority and flash using the software provided. any help is greatly apperiated thanks in advance guys.

Current OBD codes present.

Perhaps it is the pcm , but I would look at fuel injectors and perhaps look at wiring harness closer , check for the 5 volts to the crank an cam sensor , look for wiring harness being broken around edges of block ,,, thats several codes , could be wiring perhaps , shorted out somewhere,,

I kind of thought the samething and i will look at the wiring closer. What gets me is that all 4 coils have no power coming to them if 1 or 2 i would be like ok but all 4 makes me think pcm, i need to find out what type of obd2 to usb programming wire i need so i can hook it up to the laptop and to the obd2 and try to flash the used pcm... btw thank you so much for replying.

You are not getting power to the injectors, or coils, on that side of the engine. I believe they all draw power from the same place, via a splice somewhere between the coils/injectors, and the TIPM. Time to check the wiring.

You will only see power at the coils/injectors for about 3 seconds after initial key on, unless the PCM sees the engine turning.

You are not getting spark, because the coils don't have power.

Need a bi-directional cable.... which one? Not sure.... I didn't know it was possible to do that kind of thing without stupid expensive software.

I have a similar problem! The truck turns on and runs really rough, no spark or power to coils. I have already replaced cam and crank sensor that did not help. Do you guys have any ideas!!

thanks.
