Default Air bag light.

Here's a new one on me. I noticed this morning that the passenger air bag light was blinking. Anybody familiar with air bag systems have an idea what that means? I'm old and to me an air bag is a politician.

not sure of your model year or build. the light will flash once/second if it detects a short. diagnosis begins with pulling codes.

the dealers use a airbag load tool for diagnosis. the load tool simulates the resistance of the air bag. it is plugged into the airbag harness and move forward to the orc module until the code goes away...when the code goes away the fault is in between the last 2 connectors you plugged into.

I may have found the issue. The passenger air bag light was blinking yesterday going to work. On the way home, it wasn't blinking but the temperature reading on the overhead console said 61 when it was close to 90 outside. I got home and went to open the hood and found a hole in the grill. I opened tje hood to find the remnants of a good sized bird. I guess I hit it on a rough section of road when I didn't hear it hit. After I got the feathers, bones and other stuff out, it's all working now. I'll have to see if that was the cause or just serendipity.

Wow I never would've thought a bird hitting your grill would cause the light to start blinking for the passenger air bag...

I wouldn't either. Then again, I consider 12 volt electrical systems to be new fangled. I had to find a new grill assembly at the bone yard. That bird sure made a mess. What kind of bird? A bloody one. Feathers and tissue all over the engine compartment. I spent most of the day getting it out. I don't need it in there in 85-90 degree weather. Whether I have another problem or not, I'll find out later.

Hahahahaha couldn't agree more. My old man hit a turkey with his old box truck a few years back, and that destroyed the grill and something big in the engine bay...
