Default Transmission problem

I got a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 quad cab long bed with the 5.7 Hemi and a 545rfe transmission. We recently rebuilt the transmission and put a new torque converter in and now about 4000 miles later, we have a problem. It will start in 3rd gear and not downshift. I have tried replacing the solenoid pack and that didn’t do anything. I think it may be because I have a broken connector that plugs into the solenoid, the plugs fine it’s just the locking mechanism that keeps it from popping off. Would it possibly not be getting a good connection? When I take the connector off and plug it back in, the truck will work fine for about a 1/4 mile then just lock back into 3rd. What do you think this is? Thanks

Should be setting codes if it is going into limp mode.

1. Have you checked ALL electrical connections, especially to make sure the big locking connector was locked down properly?
2. Was a quick learn performed after install?

J1850 message means there is a communications interrupt on the bus, this usually happens because a communication wire is either cut or being shorted to ground. Good chance something got pinched during install.

Yes I bought the big locking connector(my last one did not lock because it was broke) and the input and output speed sensors. I will also check for any shorts or any damaged wires. Thanks for the help I will let you know if this works.

And also I did try and do a quick learn with a expensive scanner. But it wouldn’t work it kept saying communications error, but everything else would work on scanner.

Ok so I just put in the locking connector and the 2 speed sensors. Now it still starts in 3rd gear and only has one code now, po750. I tried doing the quick learn again on my Autel scanner and it says “cannot be running” Any ideas
