How many gallons does my gas tank hold?
Anybody know how many gallons my truck would hold for gas in 03 Dodge Ram 1500 4 by 4 regular cab short bed would that be a 26 gallon tank or a 35-gallon tank I'm not sure?
I would think 26. You could try running your gas tank low and filling it up to see if it's closer to 26 or 35 gallons. Another way to figure it out is to get the build sheet for the truck by searching the vin. I requested the build sheet from Dodge's Customer Service and I confirmed that my 2002 1500 4x2 had a 26 gallon tank before I sold the truck.
When mine is down below empty, dash light on, and getting close to running on vapour; it takes 88 litres to fill. (23 gal). The 35 gal tank is probably an option on the long box.
An idea is to keep a gas can in the box and just drive the truck until it is completely empty and dies out on you. Then go fill it and see what it takes. That way you will absolutely know for sure what you have got for a tank.

Agreed. I try to fill up at a minimum of a 1/4 tank when possible. I go to Sunoco since my car that I now drive doesn't like the cheap gas I used to get for my truck. My truck also didn't seem to like that gas either (hence why I went to Sunoco for it for a couple months until I sold it). Make sure you're putting good gas!
