First thing you'll need to do is get a scanner to see what code(s) you have.
If you don't have your own scanner , you can get it done at a parts store like autozone for free or whatever parts house in you area , post the code would be helpful as it could be many things , common thing is usually an 02 sensor code but not every time ,, they can clear it with a good scanner or you can unhook your battery terminals for 20 minutes or so to clear , it may come right back or may stay off depending on issue , but you need to know the code first to see what caused it in the first place ,, even an loose fuel cap can set a code off , as well as many sensors or failed component
