Was on the interstate and the yoke broke on the rear end making my driveshaft fall out. But the rear end is trashed and I need to replace it what years will work if the ratios match it is a 5.7 hemi 4x4.

 

02-08, but try to find an earlier one if you can, some of the later ones went to speed sensors at the ends of the tubes instead of the single one up top.

 

Should I replace the rearend with the leaf springs attached or would it be easier to do it with out the leaf springs attached seems like I would have to bend them in place.

 

No you don't have to bend them lol, they don't flatten out when you remove them or no one would be able to do lowering kits at home. You don't need to drop the springs if you're just replacing the axle unless your springs need replacing. Just unbolt the big u-bolts with a large floor jack under the differential and lower it down. Don't forget to disconnect the main brake hose to the rear that feeds the calipers or you'll tear it apart. Also parking brake cable and differential vent that clips up into the frame.

 

Where is the ratio located on the rearend I have it out just dont see a ratio I see all kinds of numbers

 

Usually its on a tag on one of the cover bolts. However, those don't generally survive long, and tend to disappear the first time the fluid is changed. Sometimes the ratio is etched into the edge of the ring gear. If you can find either of those, count the teeth, and divide.

 

I called dodge and got the ratio but does it matter if.the rear end is limited slip or not. They said this one has limited slip but when I checked by spinning one of the tires before it was non limited slip.
because when I spun the passenger tire the driver side went in the opposite direction.
