Default Insurence Question

I'm from the UK and now living in Florida, In the UK insurence works totally difforently.

I was wondering how insurence her works when it comes to mods, My truck is lowerd and very shortly will be getting some aftermarket wheels. Now do i have to declare all mods?
even my HU and speakers etc, I just want to know becuase if i crashed or some one damaged my car would not decaring these mods void my insurence?

Screw em. Tell them you have the sentry anti-theft key and that you are married. Hell, tell them you are a straight A student if they give a discount for that. Worse case senario you plead ignorance. "I thought i had the anti-theft key chip." They won't deny a claim if you have been paying your premiums, and in this country you NEED insurance for those out there that don't have it.

Welcome to America mirricleboy! As far as mods, I wouldn't tell them about performance mods. Radio and stero mods...sure. Theft is the number 1 killer of DVD head units

If you are making payements to a finance company, you have to have full coverage (pay for everyone's damages if your at fault). If not, you can just go collision (pay for the other guys damages only if you are at fault.) Oh yeah, depending on where you are in Florida, you'll be paying out the rear. When I moved to Ft. Lauderdale area, my premiums jumped 2x what I was paying in Georgia.

I recently had a truck totalled and the insurance company paid for the aftermarket parts I had. All that I had to do was show a receipt for the parts. Close to $2000 in parts with no questions asked.

I have progressive and I they asked if I had over a certain amount for aftermarket accessories. I think if you are under $1000 you are fine.

Progressive insurance is, well, bad. They over charge their loyal customers. I went with them a long time ago, I was in college driving a Formula. At the time, they were the cheapest, even though expensive. I had a clean driving record. My rates would go up every 6 months. No tickets or anything. After a little over 3 years of this I went onto their "great" website. Said I was Joe Smith and quoted everything the same that I had. It was over $200 less than what I was paying. I called and they said they could not give me that price. I asked why can a new customer get it and not I, they said you can not have that rate. So I went shopping and found insurance for 1/2 the price and better coverage. I then got into a class action lawsuit and recovered some of my money. Basically, they offer new customers a cut rate while putting the screws to their long standing customers. I think they are decent for higher risk people, but for us clean guys and gals they are not what you want.

If you have progressive and had them for a while go to their website and quote insurance under a different name. Not sure if they do the same practice, but worth checking. Why throw money out the window?
