Default Stock Stereo/Head Unit Swapping

My 02 Quad Cab had no headunit/stereo in it when I got it - what years Ram 1500 will swap in directly?

Setup originally was the infinity system so the rest of it is still installed, don't want an aftermarket setup but just a good stock unit.

02-05....I have an RAH code single CD/MP3 CD player if you're interested. Also have a sat radio adapter that works with it to allow use of a phone or ipod/mp3 player to plug in.

Magnoom's head unit will fit just fine. As will any double din head unit, though you may need an adapter kit from Metra if the screw holes don't line up correctly.

For my 2002 I think I have to check which plug I have as well to match with the unit, 7 pin or 20 pin was used in 2002 I think?

The stereo plugs are all the same 2002 to 2005 in the Rams

Looks like someone had an aftermarket stereo in my truck and took it out with the harness when they sold it to previous owner (who never bothered putting a stereo in). Originally had the Infinity 7 speaker system with cd/cassette/radio. Looking at the wiring in there now, there are no plugs at all, only cut wire ends. Looks like they cut some of the stock wires(originally for speakers?)(right side of pic below) as there is what looks to be speaker wire of the type that comes with aftermarket speakers spliced into the main wiring(left side of pic below) :

Have taken off the glove box to look if the stock amp is still there but can't tell as I cannot remove panel, can see thru an opening more wires, again with some that look cut and not connected :

Not sure whats been done here by past owner, if anyone would have an idea please chime in.

It looks like they went with larger gauge speaker wires. Probably had an amp.
Take a look in the door jamb where the speaker wires pass into the doors, do you see those same larger gauge wires (the ones with the clear insulation and copper wire)?
You could also take out a door speaker and see what wire is connected to it.
That larger gauge speaker wire is actually an upgrade if it was run to all of the speakers.
You'll need a multimeter to check continuity to determine wire end points. Shouldn't be too bad though.

I was reading that with the stock setup you needed a special connector to bypass the amp with the infinity system but with no amp and speakers already rewired hoping I can simply wire and solder an aftermarket stereo for use as I have a couple sitting in the garage.

The infinity amp is gone and no main stock stereo connectors, so should an aftermarket head unit just wire up then?

I have a 04 1500 with a CD player that doesn't read. Do you still have this unit available?
