Default wont crank

my serpentine belt came off while driving, (i think the water pump seized) and i had to drive another mile or so with belt off. truck got hot and was steaming when i parked it. a few days later i started it back up just to move it out of the way in the yard. now it wont crank. batteries are charged. maybe starter or alternator?

Does it do anything at all? If you overheated bad enough, it may be hydro-locked......

it turned over a little the day i got it towed to a shop. but it sounded like batteries were dead or dying because the lights inside still came on. now at the shop they find my water pump is bad. but they havent replaced the pump or the belt yet. but they said it doesnt crank. he didnt specify if it turned over or not. just said wouldnt crank. but it turned a little a few days ago, weeks after the belt incident.

So how would they know the water pump is bad? Personally, I think I would want it running before I put a pump on it.......

i guess the pump seized and thats maybe why the belt came off. its had some cooling issues, so i think that was the problem...im just hoping the batteries are bad or something simple...it started fine a few days after i lost the belt

so the batteries were dead. the guy who answered the phone at the shop was not a mechanic, and had no idea what he was talking about. truck is running. everything is ok, except now it runs a little hotter than before the water pump. it may be just the thermostat sticking, because it runs at about 215 degrees.

Ya 215 degrees for the Water/Coolant Temp is too high. Thermostat is a cheap replacement, so maybe start there like you said earlier.
