Default Driver air bag sensor

Can the sensor {which is bad or loose wiring] be removed/replaced without activating the air bag? 2004 Dodge Ram 5.7L

There is a specific procedure for doing ANYTHING at all with air bags, that you MUST follow, if you don't wanna get a rude surprise. Should be detailed in the service manual. I HIGHLY recommend you get one before touching it. Air Bags can kill.

The diesel mech. gave me a computer print out that said "Driver Squib #1 Circuit Open" is this the sensor on the drivers side behind the headlight?
