Default Power Steering Pressure Switch Missing - Can I add one?

So I'm about to replace my entire power steering system with new hoses, cooler, and pump. My truck is a 2003 Ram 1500 with the 4.7L engine, and it does not have a power steering pressure switch. Where the plug would connect to the switch, there is a take out plug. Does anyone have this setup? Can I simply go with the line with the switch port and connect the electrical plug into the switch? For what it's worth, I have never gotten any PS related ecm codes.

its only purpose/input to the pcm is to keep the idle smooth during low speed parking lot maneuver.

I've had random occasions over the past years where the truck would die in a low speed turn. The truck would start right back up. It's happened enough that I've learned to quickly put it into N to start it back up faster so I'm not holding up traffic. There was usually braking involved before or during the turn.

So, it seemed like a benefit if the switch will raise rpms. Most of the available high pressure hoses feature the port, so it's just an extra $20 for the switch. I just don't know if the ecm will use the input if it hasn't relied on it. That's with the assumption the take out plug is not completing the circuit.

if you are getting a stall...its probably needs the switch input. maybe someone took it out to try to solve something else?

Well to be fair, it does have oversized tires on it. It has 33 inch tall tires that are also wide. I'm curious if the plug is simply resistive because I've never had a PS code for open circuit.

Here's the plug I'm referring to:

Question becomes, even if you give the PCM the info, is it going to care? The programming for it may simply not even be there.

That question was exactly what I was wondering. I went ahead and purchased the switch since it is half the price online compared to local stores. So if it is determined to make a difference, then the option is there to install it. Otherwise, the plug that comes with most high pressure hoses will be installed.
