Default Transmission 452 RFE

Hello,

i got a Ram 1500, 5.7, Year 2005 with Automatic 452 RFE.

I am living in Belgium . Does someone know how much fluid ATF+4 do i need to put on my automatic transmission?

i am looking about this reference 452 but dont find any match. Some guy told me that this reference doesn't exist on Ram. So i dont know how much exactly.

Thanks for your help.

And he is correct, no such thing. Never assume what you see on a sticker is what it is called. You have a 545RFE. Also, if you have the owner's manual it will tell you how much trans fluid you need.

Service fill is is for after dropping the pan, overhaul for when the trans was removed and is completely empty (including torque converter). Make sure you are properly checking the fluid as you fill it; do not overfill.

Back in the day dodge first started with 45 RFE and with software updates the transmission became the 545RFE.

While true, it doesn't really have any bearing on the situation lol

I have checked on the website ZF 545RFE

It's 6.2 Liters independtly of 4X2 or 4X4. So i dont understand why it's specified 5.2 Liters on 4X2. I have filled mine with 6.2 Liters and level is correct.

Is there any temperature sensor i can access with a VCDS software ?

This is because later RFE's were fitted with the same pan, earlier ones, like say your 2005 were originally fitted with a shallower pan on 2wd models. Allpar is an informative site but not one you're gonna wanna take as gospel when actually working on things (sources vary widely). What I posted are the applicable pages out of the factory service manual. If you have the deeper pan the amounts will be the same. Do as you will.

The truck is has a 5.7 engine with a 545RFE transmission and its a 4x2 all the fluid is the same on all 5 speed transmission and oh the truck is Red unless some has painted it. And yes the transmission pans are different from a 4x2 vs the 4x4. If you are replacing both filters you may take up to 9 qts. Also be sure if you are replacing the main filter that seal is push all the way up into the pump. Or you will suck air and the vehicle will not move in any gears. You don't really need to see the temp sensor unless you want too. If your scanner can read the sensor then go ahead and look at the temp.
