Default P0301 Troubleshooting Tips

Hi, I've had this 2008 Ram 1500 SXT Quad Cab for about 6 weeks now. It started throwing a P0301 (Cylinder 1 Misfire?). I have the 4.7 engine, 94k miles, it seems to have 2 spark plugs/cylinder, with the coil mounted to the top spark plug. The guy I bought it from (Someone I've known a long time and trust), said it never happened to him. It first appeared about 30 miles after I bought it. On lock down here, working from home, that took a couple weeks. He did say the truck was sitting for several weeks as he'd just bought a Tesla and had been driving that.

My questions: How best do I go about troubleshooting this? Cylinder 1 is easy to get to. Can I swap coil from neighboring cylinder? Should I just replace coil with new? I'm moderately mechanically inclined, but don't have a ton of time.

Thanks in advance

Yes start by swapping coils/ checking plugs, if problem doesn’t follow coil then it would be time to test compression (4.7 are known for upper end issues)....if compression checks out good next step is to check fuel injector and spark

I would start with having a look at the plugs, and see what ya got. You can swap coils with a neighboring cylinder, and see if the misfire moves with the coil, same for the injector. If not of that helps, time for a compression test.
