Well after trying several things and then taking a break I decided to go back to square one. I put the original control back in and fired the truck up. It immediately got cold and the compressor stays on. So I'll have to see about RMAing this replacement one.

Wow, didn’t expect that to be the cause! Glad you figured it out! I have an 06 Mega as well with the dual climate. I try not to change any setting but fan speed out of fear of failure like you experienced.

I have to do a special handshake sometimes. With this old Control I thought it was an issue with the blend doors but it is some short in the unit itself. It changes vents fine, and changes blower settings fine.. but when I adjust the temp, especially the passenger side, I have to slide it from hot to cold, then slide it back and forth a few times, then flick the control a few times. Then the passenger side gets cold. The driver side works fine. I mostly replaced it so I didn't have to do all of that for the passenger side.

The one thing that leads me to believe that these controls have a learning process is when I first plugged the new one in all of the lights flashed all at once repeatedly. I thought I did something wrong so I shut the truck back off and decided to look at it the next day. That was before I found out that these controls also apparently control the compressor. So now I'm thinking I may have interrupted the learningp if those blinking lights are what I think they are.

Were the various doors doing anything while the lights were blinking? I might be tempted to try that process again.....

Honestly I didn't notice any doors moving but I wasn't really paying attention to the vents. I saw the lights flashing and messed with the *****, noticed the lights kept blinking, so I just shut the truck off.

I've tried unplugging the controls over night, disconnecting the battery over night, and also disconnecting the battery and touching the two ends together. None of that triggered anything that resembled a reset. :/

Wonder what the magic trick is to convince it to do that...... This is where a service manual would come in handy.

That's entirely possible as well.

Time to update this with what I know. I reached out to them on Amazon for an answer and their response was to send 2 labels. 1 was an RMA the other was restocking. I tried the RMA label which, despite saying postage paid, the post office dropped off right back in my drive way.
I'm going to call them today at work and see what's going on. My guess is that I can only return it. I'll just return it and get my money back at this point.

The original unit is still blowing cold. I just have to make sure not to mess with the temp slider otherwise i have to fight with the passenger side a little.
