Default Stalling truck

I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7L that stalls out of the blue without throwing any dash lights. Have replaced the EGR valve twice now as had the engine light come on and would come up on the code reader. Cam shaft crankshaft sensors have been replaced also. I have cleaned out the carbon build up on the throttle body...replaced air filter also. Could it b bad wiring on the sensors....any suggestions would b helpful...Thnx

Does it chug at all then stall or is it like you just turned key to off?

My guess without any diag would lead me to think that possibly pcm is cutting out when hot. I’ve seen it before. But I’ve also seen a fuel pump do this. Test fuel pressure first. Should be around 49psi if remember correctly.

i can’t tell you how to test pcm because there’s no real definitive way to test it. I’ll search on pro demand when I get to my shop today and see what I can find

I had issues when I first bought my Hemi where i'd top off the tank and within a block or so it'd just randomly die while at a light. It would take a few cranks to get it running again. Read that there's something up with the evap system. I would let the fuel nozzle click off and then i'd squeeze it again to make sure it was really topped off. There was my problem. Any time I top it off now I just let the nozzle stop itself and call it good there. Haven't had an issue since.

For a little while i'd have a random EGR code pop up but never caused the truck to stall. All I could find causing an issue was topping off the truck.

Well hopefully this helps...I had my motor torn down last week changing a bunch of parts....this past week I was camping. Was up on dirt roads and had to move over when other vehicles came by. And as I’d pull over the truck would just die. Did this 3 times. Got back to camp and popped the hood. Found my TV cable was kinked and not allowing it to retract, found when I had it all apart I must’ve accidentally adjusted cable....I reset the cable and had no issues the last few days.....could be same issue?

I know this is an old thread but what the hell. My 2004 5.7 with 63K miles has done all of the things you guys were talking about. Occasionally it would just stall while driving (four times so far). Once while filling it with the engine running it just turned off about the same time the tank topped. Twice after after filling the tank the engine died a few moments later. No shudder or anything, just like turning the key. The guy I got it from told me it had done the same thing after he had "topped off' after the tank filled. About three months ago I got a check engine light with a code for the EGR and relaced it with an OEM unit, no sign of carbon around the head port then. About a week and a half ago I got another engine light and the code again read EGR, cleared it and the light cam on again two days later.

I don't remember the code off hand. My mechanic plugged it in and cleared it and I didn't write it down, I will get it read again and make a note. Thanks for the quick response.

Sorry about the delay, I finally got that code reading again today, it's P0404,EGR position sensor performance.
