Hi all,

I put gauges on the AC and the compressor will not cycle, and the low side is really low (like 10 psi), yet the high side is up to 150 psi. When I have the AC on in the truck it blows warm air. Outside temp is about 75º. I assume there it is a plugged up expansion port (or whatever it is called), but shouldn't the system still cycle the clutch on and off? Where is the low side pressure sensor (if there is one), and is the expansion port on the passenger side of the engine up inside the top of the fender (I think this is where I hear it)?

If low side pressure is too low, the compressor won't run. Sounds like you definitely have a clog in the system somewhere.

 

Even though the pressure on the low side got down to 10 psi, the compressor never disengaged. Where is the low pressure sensor as I don't see any wires near the accumulator. Is it on the back of the compressor? I'm still looking on the internet for where it is and also where the expansion filter/port is at.

 

Ok, I was assuming the compressor would NOT run...... In that case, your pressures don't surprise me, though, I still think it is low on refrigerant.

I *think* the high side switch is actually on the compressor, and the low side switch is either on the line from the condenser, to the accumulator, or, its right up there by the accumulator itself. (receiver/dryer.....) I don't have a manual for your truck though..... so I am just guessing.
