Question 2004 5.7L hemi Harmonic Balancer question

Could you shed some light on this problem for me? I need some direction to solve this. My harmonic balancer is defective (wobbling & signs of separation). The replacement balancer is larger than the original by a little more than an inch in diameter. The old balancer is solid with no place to slide the puller through to remove so I will have to get a different puller and span over the pulley and catch the back to remove. Also the replacement serpentine belt was longer than the original. I'm not sure if I should go back with parts like I'm removing or new parts I've purchased???

Did Dodge update those parts? I would be more inclined to believe they changed over the years, and you simply got parts for a newer (older?) model year. Take the parts you take off to the parts store, and see if they have something similar. Or, get parts numbers from one of the many mopar parts distributors, and they should be able to cross-match it.

Did you get a Mopar part, or aftermarket? I looked it up on summit and you can buy from a range of diameters, aftermarket. You need to look up the mopar part by VIN and match that diameter. https://www.summitracing.com/search/...cending&page=1

Local dealer didn’t have the part and said it was back ordered. Got the part number and it cross referenced to the doorman after market damper I bought. Haven’t been able to get the old damper off. Used a 3 jaw puller that I had but it didn’t get a good enough bite on the flange behind the pulley to break it free. I’m beginning to wonder if the previous owner put an under sized damper on this truck. All the older and newer ones close to 2004 have open areas in the damper and this one is solid.
