Was driving on the highway today and decided to try the cruise control for the first time on this Ram (just insured it last week) - cruise control light came on and I hit the set button but vehicle started to slow down instead of holding speed. Tried once more but the same thing happened. After that I am getting a bog around 1600 rpm roughly and at about 25mph multiple times. Tried turning off O/d but same thing. Read an old post about someone who had same issue after trying to engage cruise control.

Could something in the cruise control setup be sticking/engaging still and be causing the bog?

 

Do all the buttons on the steering wheel work for the cruise control?

 

Not sure, cruise "on" button works and "off" but "set" didn't engage it.

 

Is the set button sticking? Might need a replacement assembly to see if that's the issue.

 

Buttons should be easy to test, all they do is modify a voltage signal from the PCM, just need to know what the correct resistance values are, and see if yours are close.
