New clutch but now my nv3500 is making noise from under the shifter at high rpms
I changed the clutch pressure plate throwout and pilot bearings, the pilot bearing was just an aluminum sleeve the actual bearings were long gone, the throwout bearing was toast, the clutch was completely gone the pressure plate was alright but I changed it anyway, it does a lot better now the throwout bearing was making a lot of noise and the pilot being gone was causing vibration.
but now when I’m in gear and moving at 2000 or higher rpms I hear a noise from under the gear shifter sounds like gears which I know are under the shifter but it’s never done this before, two bolts that go into the dustpan at the bottom on the trans are missing, I took them out then they wouldn’t go back in so I’m going to likely have to tap the holes and try again I think a previous owner screwed the threads up.
another thing I did was when I filles the trans up with fluid I filled it from the top where the shifter sits in stead of the fill bolt, I know it holds around 2.4 quarts I had the fill bolt off and it started running out around 1.5 quarts but I had the trans out for days I know it was dry, I figured had to be leaning so I put the fill bolt back on and put about another quart in it.
im lost the only thing I can think of is the input shaft bearing that I didn’t change is making noise because it actually has a pilot bearing to go into now. But I checked the input bearing and it looked fine, and my friend who’s a mechanic also checked it and said it looked fine no reason to get into that.
