Hey guys,

Hope this isn't against community guidelines or anything, I have a 2005 dodge ram 1500 with the 5.7l hemi 2wd. I'm wanting to convert it to a 4wd, I can pick up the front axle, transfer case and transmission off a 2003 dodge but it's the 4.7. Would the transmission work with my engine?

Same transmission, but that isn't your issue here. 2005 2wd has coil springs and shocks. 2005 4wd uses torsion bars. Totally different front suspension.

 

Would I be able to change out the front end? Pretty sure I can get the front suspension with the transmission and the rest?

 

If you can do cutting/welding/other fab work, it's doable, but, a LOT of work..... and getting it right is gonna be an exercise. Might be easier/cheaper to sell what you have, and buy what you want.

 

Either fab work or frame swap.
