Default Leaf Spring Mounting Conerns ....

Hello all . Confusing question ahead. But I'm sure there's an old timer or two
that knows exactly what I'm talking about.

There is open space between new shackle bushing and bolt hole inside mating surface of the shackle hangers thats welded to frame from factory.
same for the forward eye.. bolts s pass through eyes nuts tighten down , U-bolts torqued. Alighnmet pins seated well.

I guess I'm saying the shackle eye and bushing is narrower than the shackle hanger itself there is space.
is it a acceptable practice and can I be good and proceed tomorrow with the
other side. Or am I going too have problems?

Maybe spacers of some sort too fill the space too prevent side to side movement ?

I suppose if it came too it I could reuse old factory shackles and replace with new bushings ?

sorry no pictures for now. Got dark on me. I'm outside in the grass on the ground.

Now go hug and love on your loved ones . Good and hard...

I would be tempted to put washers or something in there, to take up the extra space. Otherwise, the rear will be able to walk around a bit while running down the road, and that could lead to some unpredictable behavior......

HEY YOU .
I gave you a follow up picture of the Jack Stand pads that you taught me how too make.
Its two 2x6s pressure treated caribe bolted I between plywood with screw plating on each
end.. going too install suitcase handles on all 4 sides for maneuverability.
Ram 1500 rear suspension is completely up off the ground and suspended.
the JS pads worked well in the grass. Kind of variegated lumpy back yard..
in.Piece of advice use insect repelent.

Is this spring/shackle kit a universal fitment, or specifically for your truck? The shackle looks to fit your leaf spring, but too small for the body mount. I see two options; get the correct size shackle, or make what you got fit.
I rec getting the correct size shackle. I think you will be glad that you did in the long term.
I wouldn't press the bushing out of the current shackle, you will still have the potential for the leaf spring to move.
If you want to keep your current shackle, I think the suggestion to use washers is good. If I were doing it, I would pancake a polyurethane washer between two metal washers on each side. The gap is large enough.
I wouldn't go to next side until you get the current side located and tightened.

So then can I reuse my old factory shackles they're not rusted look in good shape probably press in a new bushing.
Granted the width fits the leaf spring eye. ?

I wanted everything too match up. Like with like. So I wouldn't run into this problem. Its why I ordered new shackles
In first place even though old ones look structurally sound..

Reinstall the old ones, return the new ones if you can.
