20" Wheel Problem/Question...
I just broke the crap out of my front right wheel on my 04' QC Hemi. My truck only has 13K on it, and I doubt heavily that I'll get the dealership to put on a new wheel free of charge. I broke a chunk out of the inner rim ( on the inside of the wheel ) from driving right thru a HUGE pothole! Would this type of damage be covered in Dodge's 3yr/36K warranty? I can't believe these wheels would break as bad as my wheel did.
My question is, how do I determine if I have the 20" chrome clad wheels or the polished aluminum wheels? I can't find the original sticker off my truck. Is there a "tell taled" way to determine what type of wheels I have.
Also, and I better off purchasing the wheel from the dealership or just off of ebay, classifieds...etc? Please advise!
TIA!

i honestly doubt the dealer will replace it for ANY discount...
HOWEVER...
I remember a buddy of mine blew both passenger side tires in a bad pothole last winter.....he called the town to complain about that road and they said they had other complaints....so they gave him i think like 250 toward his 410.00 bill.
Unless you were an idiot and found a bad pothole and hit it hard and fast....if it was really that BAD of a pothole and it was in the middle of the road or something...i would try calling the town to complain about why it wasnt repaired and it blew out your tire and damaged your rim....worth a shot.
BTW.....Chrome clad vs. polished alum.........I have the chrome clad and my wheels are like "mirrors" when clean or even dirty for that matter. very smooth to the touch also.
the aluminum wheels are dull looking after like a dozen carwashes.....they have swirl marks all over them and certainly dont have a mirror shine appearance.

The chrome clad is a plastic cover over an aluminum wheel. You can tell cause the cover will go all the way to the wheel lip then stop. From there you can see the dull looking lip.
both of these guys are right but i would consider buying a whole used set off ebay with tires and all you can pick em up pretty cheap (people usually want to get rid of the crome clad ones) and wont have to worry if you hit another pot hole
I REALLY can't tell what type of wheels I have on mine. I have looked at the wheel...I see swirls marks on them like you see on car body paint. They are not SUPER SUPER shiny and mirror like. I am guessin I have the polished aluminum wheels? I also don't see a noticeable stoppage of chrome to dull on the lip of the wheel. Any other ideas or does it sound like I have the polished aluminum wheels?
Well, when I look at my aluminum rims, I can easily see that the front of the wheel and in the inside of the wheel is one piece. It doesn't look like a hub cap or anything like that; the wheel is just one solid piece. As for the color of the wheels, as stated previously, the chrome clad are mirror like and the aluminum look a little hazy. Here are some pics from ebay:

You can tell the difference just by knocking on them. It will sound like a cover or like an aluminum rim.
I am about to sell my set of chrome clad 20's with tires. 4000 miles on them as of tonight. You can email me if you are interested.
