Update 9/2/21
Got the Clear Coat on today.
Looks GOOD!
I picked this older Sata Jet RP Digital gun prob. more than 10 yrs ago from a Pro who was retired and selling off his equipment pretty cheap.
I never used it until today.
I thought the gun was TOO GOOD to be running Alkyd paint through it.
Anyway, it's a nice gun. Shot the clear coat great!
This is the gun I used,
Shot the sides and bottom 1st then the top and face.
Shooting Clear Coat is ALOT messier than Base Coat.
Look at that overspray!
It turned out Awesome though!
Of course two small bugs landed on the face of the tailgate, NOT the sides or bottom, but the FACE of the tailgate after the 1st coat.
I said F-it and applied three more coats with a 15 min flash time in between coats.
Looks Great I think!
Not sure how much cut and polishing I'll have to do with the way it turned out.
I'll post pic's once it's back on the truck.
I'll let it cure for about a week in the sun.

The neighbor has several grand kids who live there part of the time. They are nice young ladies but have a habit of just coming over when they want. I've gotten on them about being barefoot then walking into my garage where I cut metal and sometimes have broken glass. One brought me a "present" of a stick which then laid on the hood of the truck I had just painted. I hadn't cleaned my roller yet so an extra coat covered it.

Normally, I paint trucks with flat black then some brown blobs. Although the last one I did, I spent extra time with the blobs and the silly thing would disappear at night in dark parking lots.
However, if a truck is missing most of its paint, it can be more complicated. I don't care for white as it gets hit in the rain a lot. I'm working on sanding and prepping my '96 Ram but this is the truck I finished about a month ago. Here are pictures before, after priming and after paint.
Yes, that is the same truck in all the pictures. Up close, you can tell it was done with a roller and brush. Going down the road, that Rust-O-Leum safety red is noticeable.

It's all YOUR fault. I primered my truck yesterday and as I was leaving this morning, I heard a cat yowling. It sounded close. I found a cat stuck to the hood of my truck. It was really upset too. Evidently, it climbed on my hood last night to sleep. The primer was hard to the touch but not cured yet. I'm assuming the cats body heat softened it and it stuck, After I got one leg loose, it seemed to calm down a bit. At first though, it was a handful trying to get something with with 20 little daggers on it's feet loose. It's belly and side were stuck fast. I had to sand and re-prime the hood. It took off when I got it loose, but it was a matted mess. I didn't think to take a picture.
