Hi,
I'm really excited about the new project I just picked up.
It is a wrecked '03 2500 4x4 5.7. The driver side wheel and axle took a big hit. It folded the upper and lower control arms and broke the steering knuckle. Also broke the pitman arm off the steering box and wrinkled the fender. I've already sourced a complete axle from an '08 with t-style components and a fender but when I started looking for a steering box I found a LOT of chatter on how undersized the OEM steering box is on the 3rd gen 2500s. I also read where people are spending a grand to upgrade to the latest Dodge HD steering box but that seems really spendy...
So in the interest of saving a couple bucks I'm wondering if the 4th gen steering box might fit with some minor modifications. Or maybe a 3500 box? I tried some searches in the 3rd gen forum but didn't see much on swap info (maybe it won't work?) <grin>.
Anyone have any experience with this type swap and are willing to share?
