Default trans cooler line leak delete with extras

Hey guys

Fixing stuff on new-to-me 2007 3500, 5.9L, 48RE. Lots of reading in this forum helped make up my mind how to do this repair. I'm gonna cut the leaky quick connect fittings out of the transmission cooler lines. Also replace the leaky air-to-oil cooler with oem replacement.

Plan is to put a barb-type ridge in the hard line using my flare tool, and then plumb it back together using neoprene hose and hose clamps. Couple of new things on top of the repair. Additional oil cooler to be added downstream of oem cooler. Towing, mountains, heat, blah blah. Also have mechanical trans oil temp gauge to be added.

Sadly, my new aluminum trans pan has a 1/8" npt port, and my sender is 1/2" npt. Saw a pic from a well-known gauge maker - their install kit actually has you insert their sender into a tee fitting.. So, as long as I'm not blocking the return oil flow with my sender, i'm thinking a 1/2" npt tee plumbed into the return-to-trans line should be ok. Local hardware store has them in brass. Anyone else done a similar mod for trans temp sender? Thanks in advance.

You want to know what temp the fluid is coming OUT of the trans, not going back to it......
