Default '05 Ram 1500- Cranks but won't start?

Driving my truck to work this morning. Got to where I was going, turned off the truck to check in and when I went back it wouldn't start. The engine would crank but it wouldn't start.

Plenty of fuel and there was no check engine light on. I have not done any work on it lately. The only recent issue was Sunday I drove from Georgia to Michigan and as I was going through a drive through, the water temperature was hot causing a check gauges warning. I let it sit and cool down, antifreeze was full, expansion tank was good. No issues the rest of the drive, temp stayed normal.

Thanks,

Robert

Crank position sensor pretty common failure. Cheap and easy to replace. YouTube

To close this out, the problem ended up being the fuel pump, not the crank position sensor. I was stuck in Michigan and had to get back to Georgia and in my impatience while I was waiting for the dealer to get it in to diagnose it I tried replacing the sensor to see if that may have been the problem. Ended up breaking the sensor off in the engine because it was so corroded.

Interesting though after the dealer replaced the pump the truck would start and run though it would need to crank for about 5-6 seconds and would stutter when giving it gas, but would would run and get to speed as long as I was easy on the gas. I was surprised it would start and run without the sensor connected as this is one of the recommendations for a crank no start condition, I don't think that's necessarily the case now if mine was able to start and run without a sensor even connected.

I was able to replace the sensor before I made my trip back to Georgia. Had to remove the tire and wheel well to get access to the sensor where I drilled a hole and screwed in a bolt with washers I could attached a strap and clamp to then just tightened the clamp down against he frame and it popped out.
