Default I'm an idiot...Air Filter Cover not closed

Before driving down a dusty dirt road, I swapped my K&N filter out for the OEM paper filter. (People tell me they handle dust better). After the trip, I went to swap the filters back, and noticed that the filter cover wasn't completely sealed. Air could easily bypass the filter and go directly to the intake. Yes, you're right- I am an idiot. That's not the point. Haha
My question is, how can I figure out if any damage was done, and is there anything I can proactively do to mitigate or reduce any potential damage?

Your truck will be fine. No harm done in such a short space of time.

Nothing you can do about it in any event. Any damage that was going to occur, already has. If it still runs good, don't worry about it.

What's done is done. Unless you're running in volcanic ash, you probably didn't do much. I've seen engines run thousands of miles with no filter. It's not good, but you'll probably start to burn oil at 199,998 miles instead of 200,000.

BTW, K&N filter DO do what they say but unless you're towing, I don't see any use in them. Do they flow more air? Yes! Do you need that much air flow? Not really. Uphill with a heavy trailer and pulling at wide open throttle (WOT), yes, you need all the air you can get. Normal driving? Your engine only flows so much air. Keep your stock filter clean and it will run just as well and burn the same amount of fuel.

you could remove and clean the ducting... and clean the throttle body.
