Yeah I know it dosn't matter that much for the sub, but I am kind of stuborn about stuff like this. hehe

Looks like from the diagram I should be able to split the line off of the head unit before the amp and get a good line out that way. I might make a split for all 4 lines so I have RCAs off the head if I ever want to upgrade the factory amp and speakers.

I don't think they are RCA/line level between head and amp -- I'm pretty sure from the way I read the service manual that they are at powered level. No other way to find out than to just hook it up and test.

(don't want you to blow some inputs...)

I will test with 6X9's first. Then if they down squak I will test with some cheapo line in stuff (think I have a mixer that has line in...)

I am in the same spot right now, got a new hu and need to hook it up to my 7 speaker system, im also installing 2x10" subs 400W RMS total - having the front doors put out more bass may be too much - dont you think??

That means I'll have to bypass the amp to get around it, well, will my hu power all 7 speakers - doesnt sound like it -

So that means I have to buy a new amp? What other option do I have??

What is a good amp to replace that one with - I havent found any amps that are over 4 channels - so does this mean it won't power my 7 speakers either - or not as well -

And I bet I can't find one that will fit in the same spot. So is installing this going to be a big hassel -

what do you think

I would say that you could reuse the Infinity amp -- but you are stuck with the amp's internal preset crossover config (has anyone ever disassembled to see if the crossover settings might be changed?). I am 99% sure that the amp uses speaker level inputs -- JoeKramer and I were talking about that earlier, but my guess is that, because it isn't a coax type sheilded cable (two separate + and - cables) that it is speaker level. You could then use the line outs from your HU to run your subs.

Otherwise, you will have to pull the wiring from the amp, reuse the existing speaker wiring if its heavy enough for your amp/replacement speakers, and try to work in 6 channels to power the existing 7-speaker setup.

Have fun!

sounds like I am going to re-use the existing amp and be stuck with bass in the front doors- which may not be that bad - hopefully once i replace the front speakers the dash will give me enough trebel

I am about to install some passive high-pass crossovers inline with the door speakers (i don't have the Infinity) -- block the 100hz down. No it technically doesn't give you more trebel, but it does move the medium prime frequency (my own wording...) up the scale a bit.

I installed an alpine indash monitor using Metra amp intergration kit CHTO-01. It allows you to keep factory deck by using low level (RCAs) out from aftermarket deck.

i always had older cars and trucks that didnt have the built in amps and it was so easy to install all new speakers and systems. i installed alpine type-r 6x9's in the front and type-r 5.25's in the back and they sound like complete ****. i only had a 4 speaker system to begin with no infinity stuff. why does it sound soo ****ty. i know the stock headunit isnt the best but i like the stock look is there anything i can do to enhance this without going crazy. do i need to bypass the stock amp and if so how do i go about finding it and doing so. i need help guys, it sucks lol. spend soo much money on speakers and cant even just throw them in and have a goosd sound. thats why i hate the new cars these days too much electronics. please help
