DTC Possession - Exorcism needed!
3rd attempt at posting this thread, shorter version this time.
04 RAM 1500 4x4 SLT 4.7L
current codes - P0340 CAMSHAFT SENSOR
- P2074 MAP/MAF Throttle Position Correlation at Higher Load
- temp. guage not working
work done - remanufactured pcm, programmed to vin, new cam and crank sensors. new radiator, hoses, thermostat, temp sensor 6-8mos old - 8-10k miles ago.
complete tuneup - plugs, coils, injectors same time as temp sensor.
found what seems to be a short at cam sensor connector AND at pcm connector, continuity bleed in ground circuit into signal circuit tested at both pin sets. cannot find short in harness, have not opened it up to expose wire completely, hoping an easier way. bending- shaking every 4-6inches no help. ideas? anyone have a connector at sensor side go bad? any ideas for testing? about to run ohms check, but lighted continuity check convinced me of short, not real bright like other circuits tested but convinced me there was no need for ohms test. smashing my head on the wall...

Agreed, hoping that's not the case, I'll test it to be sure if in fact the shorts I've found don't cure my problem. Hoping the oxidation and worn insulation was the culprit and is now fixed...
Has anyone experienced the temp sensor fail along with the cam/crank codes? Doesn't make sense one would cause the other but then again, nothing surprises me anymore with this thing! I thought maybe an air pocket, but ran it well past opening of thermostat, it didn't draw down the reserve, I had topped it off at the set screw plug at top of intake/upper hose housing to avoid air pockets, and heat was insane in the cab temp guage never moved, all wires are connected... ??
