2005 Dodge Ram 1500 - Separate CV Joint from Drive Shaft
I tried searching for an answer, but I couldn't find one.
I am rebuilding my drive shaft, but I cannot figure out how to separate the CV Joint from the drive shaft. The snap ring is dead center inside the CV joint, so I cannot use pliers to release it. It seems like it's machine pressed in. A heavy rubber mallet didn't help.
Any thoughts?

If it's anything like the ones I used to deal with, it's not really a 'snap ring', per se.... its just a loop of stiff wire, that requires a bit of effort to get it to release. Hard part is, keeping the outer portion straight, while applying a shock load to the back side. (hitting it with a hammer..... )

They sell them at Amazon for $21.99. I wish the auto parts store had a loaner.
