Default 4x4 question

2002, 4x4, SLT, 4.7, QUAD, AUTOMATIC.
Does anyone know if I can remove the front drive shaft and both CV axle's and still be able to drive my truck?
The reason for asking is because the passenger side intermediate shaft is dragging on the bottom of the housing.

No. You can't. The outer CV joints on the front are what holds the wheel bearings together. Without that joint/nut in there, the front wheels can separate from the truck. That would be WAY to exciting.

I think there is supposed to be a bushing at that end of the axle, to help support it, along with a seal on the end there.

I've tried to install the bushing, but it didn't really help. Not sure but according to dodge the bushing goes on the shaft where it comes out of the differential gears. And yes there was an axle seal but it can't support the weight of the shaft and cv joint.

Intermediate shaft bushing passenger side.

Really hard to tell looking at the drawings..... a better drawing would be nice, but, I don't seem to be able to find one....

What supports that end of the axle with the driveshaft installed? Gotta be something out there, as the seal sure isn't gonna be up to the job.
