Remove the fuel pump fuse and crank the engine over. Supposedly some company came up with a way to tap into the block somewhere and pressurize the gallery but I've never actually seen anything about it.

I would fill the oil filter or make sure the filter was full. And pull the fuel pump fuse like Magnoom had said. Crank the engine for 10 seconds and stop and crank again for another 10 times.

Is it in the truck or on an engine stand? Is it a crate engine or a shop rebuild? What engine is it?

Quick and easy prime is to fill the oi filter. On the stand, put a socket on the balancer bolt and crank it by hand with the plugs removed. With an oil pressure hooked to the oiling system, crank until you have pressure. If it's in the truck, if you can access the front of the engine, crank it by hand. If you can't pull the ignition and fuel pump fuses and crank it with the starter.

On the engine stand is easiest but you can do it on the floor. Fill the filter and crankcase with the proper amount of oil. I would put an oil pressure gauge on the oil sending unit port. Rotate it by hand with a ratchet until you have pressure. Maybe a couple of more rotations just to make sure. It should then be good until you put the engine in.

I'd keep the valve covers off also to check flow to the heads.
