Can I use 18 awg wire to connect to 20awg?
Hi there,
This should be quick and easy for someone that knows. This will be my first electrical fix, but I think I understand enough to pull it off. Basically the horn switch in my airbag is broken, so I need to run a switch for it. When reading the wiring diagram in the factory service manual I saw that the horn wire was black and orange and that it was 18awg. So that's what I bought when I was out today. Then I looked at the diagram again and saw that the wire isnt the same at the column. Instead its green and purple and is 20awg. So what i bought is thicker, which from what I understand is ok. Its thinner wire you need to be careful with. And this is just going to be a foot or 2 of wire run for the horn switch.
Is that ok, or should I go back to the store and get the correct wire? Thanks
