not sure what the problem is. My install went quite easy, but maybe im just used to doing harder stuff, like headers on camaro's and mustangs. I do lots of those. Regardless i would do it again for the performance gained. Hedman longtubes w/ ORY dropped the truck 1 full second and gained 4mph in the quarter. also now getting about 4MPG more on the highway so im not complaining.

I put a set of gibson stainless headers on my '04,no probs,2 hours and half a case of beer, felpro gaskets with a thin coat of orange hi-temp silacone, been on 10k miles and no leaks, picked up a mile per gallon to boot!! the only prob i had was finding hi quality gaskets,Summit took care of that for me

if your gonna keep the cats on the truck i wouldn't even bother with headers. my truck has no cats which is prolly why i gained so much.

TRAMOTORSPORTS, how do you pass inspection w/o your cats? NO cats AT ALL or did you hollow them out?

Hate to say this man but my truck got a lot quicker between 1 and 8 K miles. Most engines pick up power at this pont... not saying you did not pick up anything, just saying it would have happened anyway to some extent.
We lined up the evening before and that same evening after I did the install. I think I put around 5 miles on it before we left work and ran each other.

Well I tried the install myself this past weekend and gave up. Getting the old manifolds off proved to be a little too difficult. The labor of $240 that I was originally quoted was 4hrs @ $60, it looks like this will be the route I take when I get the money gathered.

hahah this is funny watching this go back and forth...

first of all 240-260 is a GOOD price!!! for the install...let them do it...because in all honesty...if you have never installed a CAI or an exhaust or headers before...its gonna take you like 10-12 hours instead of 5-6 because you will be learning as you go.

second of all...who says headers are bad? they are DEF. worth it on this truck. *AS LONG AS THEY ARE LONGTUBES!!!

dont waste money on an install of shortys.

longtubes though will give you a NICE gain along with a catback and intake. take a look at the stock headers...look how restrictive they are. replace them with a set of longtube kooks or dynatechs along with a high flow cat (y-pipe) and you will unleash an extra 10-15rwhp easy.

theres no doubting this. longtube headers are NEEDED on this motor along with a catback and intake....all three should yeild you about 25-35hp.

you would benefit from headers LONG before a little programmer that really does jack. I think my programmer was a waste. they all are. they claim 15-20hp but thats bull. the only thing i saw was a "slight" mpg increase.
