2002 Ram 1500 Automatic to Manual Conversion
You need a real, manual trans flywheel, with the appropriate ring for the crank sensor. You will also need the manual trans crank sensor. (length is different between auto/manual.) You should be able to pick up the correct flywheel at any parts store...
You need a flywheel for the 5.9 V8 since it is externally balanced, the 5.2 is internally balanced. The 2500 or larger trucks are the only ones you could get the 5.9 with a 5 speed in so you will need to order a flywheel for one of those.
Thanks 00t , Had a long conversation with a knowledgeable guy at Autozone today. We looked up a lot of parts stuff, and came to the conclusion that I don't need the ring. What we come up with is that there is a magnet on the flywheel used in conjunction with the CPS and that I just need the CPS for the manual transmission, and that the plug connector is the same, just a different color, and the CPS a different size and shape. I think a poster on another thread mentioned this. So this isn't a big issue at all. I'm confident enough to proceed in ordering a Flywheel, CPS, CP , PB, and PP. Next part is getting a Bellhousing and clutch system that will work to install the trans I decide to use. ATM I'm leaning toward NV 4500.
Mom is now feeling better, and her and Dad are going to sell their house for a smaller one, and they want me to come up and haul off, what of theirs I'd like to have. So I need to get this project finished, as my tired old trusty Jeep is near retirement itself.
I found my Unicorn in a Pull Part place. 3rd gen Ram 1500 with a stick, but an engine I do not recognize. However I pulled steering column ( fortunately with key ) pedals, trans , clutch, and PP. I found it hard to believe the truck it came from was actually in a junkyard. It was not wrecked and good sheet metal, interior was stripped as was rear end.
So at this point: All I have to do is get the parts ordered, track down a bell housing, order the rebuilt NV 4500 ( Autozone said there would not be any freight on the price, and that i could swap the R 46 as a core. I did get the NV 3500 out of the Unicorn but the front shaft is badly worn at the pilot bearing portion of the shaft. I'm going to keep it and ditch the R46.
I will also have to get my driveshaft resized. and maybe ecm reprogrammed. This is looking better than I originally thought!

I think I had a stroke of luck. I found a 2003 Ram 1500 about 3 hours away, that was in pretty nice shape. While it has a weak NV 3500 that needs rebuild, it came with an NV 4500 with bellhousing for $3000. Since I was about to shell out $1500 for a rebuilt 4500 this looked like a really sweet deal to me. I now have everything for my original project except a driveshaft. With it also came the first half of a 2 part driveshaft from a 2500 which appears to have a larger knuckle at the U joint. I am not convinced however that the portion of the shaft I have can be mounted to current frame. Since I have a NV 3500 I got from a junkyard I can rebuild, I can do a direct swap in the 03, and come out of it with 2 Ram 1500's. A 4 door with 5.9L gas, and a 2 door short bed with 3.7 six!
