Bumper to hitch??
After cutting off what I thought was holding the hitch on, I find that I have to raise the bed to get this hogged out steel removed. But I'm looking and it seems like the only thing holding the bumper on is the part of the hitch that drapes over the frame (see pic) am I not seeing a connection or am I missing pieces

Here are the service manual pages for 2004 trailer hitch removal. I've pulled the rear bumper off my 2004 w/o removing the trailer hitch or removing the bed - must be the crusty condition hiding the obvious ?

 

I had to raise my bed to get my factory installed inner bumper off of my truck. Now i am talking the real inner bumper not the chrome crap on the back.
