Default Bouncing after exiting 4wd

My son just purchased his first vehicle and it is the 2005 2500 power wagon. We just replaced the transfer lever and got it all lined up. Took it out to test 4wd and it goes in to 4wd fine but upon exiting 4wd the truck hopped a bit.. I wasnt at a complete stop when I put it back into 2 wd but quickly did stop and wait.. then started to drive again, it acted as though it was still in 4wd.. so I stopped again, put it in neutral and then put the drive in to neutral and then into 2wd.. started driving normal again.. wondering what it might be, if the lever is not properly aligned or maybe something else is wrong, any ideas are welcomed..

correction, we fixed the bracket not the actual lever.. my son is yelling at me to state this correctly since it is his truck..

Why yes, yes it is. If I had the money, I would have one.

Yeah, don't use 4x4 on high traction surfaces, that tends to break stuff.

Generally, you can go 4H as a test - keeping the front wheels perfectly straight. Anything that makes one wheel faster/slower than the rest is what can break stuff. That is why you want same size tires too.

Is it a manual shift transfer case on the floor, or a **** on the dash? PowerWagon has some accessories that disengage for offroad flex, I don't know what controls that - haven't really looked at those. They also made use of some deadspace behind the front bumper by putting a winch in there.

When I bought my 2004 2500 with 165K miles, I changed all the fluids but overlooked the transfer case. As luck would have it, got low and screwed it up. Suggest one of the first things you do is swap over all the fluids so you have a fresh slate.
