Default 2003 1500 5.7L Partial Throttle Response

New member/first post. I've seared the forums but nothing appears to match my issues.

2003 Ram 1500 5.7L 2WD - 177K miles

Several months back had some radio wiring issues and therefore a few issues such as scan tool couldn't be read, lights (headlight and interior) would only work if the key was in the "on" position, keyless entry wouldn't work, etc. Worked through those issues and all is well except the truck appears to either be in limp mode or have throttle body issues. The butterfly plate only open about 20% no matter how much gas you give it. Driving is fine except for the fact that it is slow as molasses, pedal hits the floor at 10-15 mph. Truck can still get up to highway speeds 75-80 mph just slowly.

Checked all fuses, tried all the relearning methods, and there are ZERO engine codes. Truck just passed inspection here in NC as well.

Any thoughts? Bad wiring? Maybe accelerator position sensor? Bad TB? Tempted to replace the TB to see if it works or not but want to check here to see if anyone has experienced this or has any thoughts.

Have a scanner that can read live data?? See what the TPPS is telling the PCM, and if that corresponds to where the pedal actually is.

Hey you's recommendation is first thing to check; does throttle position percentage equal pedal position?
If you are not the first owner, does truck have a tune, or aftermarket throttle kit like pedal commander? Both affect how computer reads pedal position.

I believe I’m the fourth owner but I don’t think there’s anything after of the market in terms of pedal commander or anything. The only after market “performance” upgrade was a cold air intake. I had no issues with the throttle response until the electrical problems.

Excuse the ignorance but it I’ll probably need to take it in to have a full diagnostic scan done as far as I know, correct? I have a decent OBD2 scan tool but not sure if it does any live readings.

I appreciate both responses!

Was finally able to check live data on the TPS and at idle its roughly 9% and pedal to the floor it reads about 44%. Have not researched what exactly this all means or next steps, I wanted to post here first. Any thoughts next step?

Can't use a pedal commander on a 2003 anyway.

I don't particularly care for the pedal commander... all it does is re-map throttle position sensor voltage, so it goes up quicker. You can do the exact same thing.... by stepping harder on the pedal.....

I am thinkin' that 44% with the pedal on the floor ain't right. Is the sensor adjustable?? If not, I would think its time for replacement.

Default I have answers but no solutions!

I wanted to check back in as I finally have some answers. It turns out that there is a code being thrown, and that is P0593 Cruise Control Multi-Function Input B Circuit High. However, there is no issue with the cruise control itself, so it could be a short or other wiring issue. The main issue noticed is that my accelerator cable is nearly severed all the way through! So, that’s fix number one IF I could find one! Not in stock anywhere and shows as back ordered (greater than 46 days). 2nd would be to take care of the code by replacing the Bell Crank housing assembly….except that part is discontinued as of 2020 and would retail over $400 if one could be located. 3rd would be to replace the throttle body!

In short, I need to replace 2 parts both of which cannot be found anywhere. Lucky me. If anyone has a lead on the following parts I would appreciate it!

Accelerator Cable: 52010447AB
Bell Crank Housing: 53032456AE

Thanks!

That’s the plan this weekend. One says they have (2) 2003 in their yard so Lady Luck may be on my side.
